🚀 Getting Started
Get your team making structured, recorded decisions in under 5 minutes. This guide walks you through creating your first task from scratch.
1. Create an Account
Go to dcisn.com/register and sign up with your work email. No credit card required on the Free plan. Once registered you'll land directly on your dashboard.
2. Choose: Decision or Task?
DCISN has two task types. Before creating anything, ask yourself:
- Decision — You need a binding outcome (Yes/No, Multiple Choice, or open suggestion) voted on by a Decider. Use this for anything that needs a final, recorded answer.
- Task — You only need structured feedback from your team. No vote, no decision round. Use this for reviews, sign-offs, or information gathering.
Not sure? Default to New Decision. You can always skip the decision round by setting the task type to Suggestion.
3. Create Your First Decision
Click + New Decision in the sidebar or top navigation. Fill in:
- Topic — A grouping label (e.g. "Product Strategy", "HR"). Topics help organise your dashboard.
- Title — A short, descriptive name (e.g. "Q2 Feature Prioritisation").
- Task / Question — The full question your team is answering. Be specific — vague questions get vague feedback.
- Goal — (Optional) What you want to achieve. Helps consultants give focused input.
- Decision Type — Yes/No, Multiple Choice, or Suggestion.
- Rounds & Timing — How many feedback rounds, and how long each one lasts.
- Team Members — Add colleagues by email. Assign each a role.
4. Add Team Members
Every task needs at least one of each role:
- Responsible — Manages the task. That's usually you.
- Decider — Casts the final vote. Can be the same person as Responsible.
- Consultant — Provides feedback. Add as many as your plan allows.
Members who already have a DCISN account join immediately. New emails receive an invite link — they don't need to create an account to respond (they get a magic link).
5. Submit and Wait
Click Create Decision. The system automatically:
- Emails all members with their role and a link to the task
- Opens Round 1 immediately
- Starts the countdown timer
- Sends a 2-hour deadline reminder to anyone who hasn't responded
You can monitor progress from the task detail page — the Team panel shows who has responded and who is still waiting.
6. After the Feedback Round
When the feedback round closes, the decision round opens automatically. The Decider receives an email prompt. They review all consultant feedback on the decide page and cast their final vote.
If you configured more than one feedback round with the default Decision round between feedback rounds toggle enabled, the Decider gets an early-decision opportunity after each feedback round — not just the last one. They can decide immediately if the feedback is already clear, or click Open Next Feedback Round to gather more input first.
Once decided, all members receive the result by email. The decision is permanently archived on the task detail page.
